VESTA TRAY LUNA MARBLE

The Vesta tray in Luna marble has been designed from a vintage piece we sourced and had made to the perfect size for holding your spent matches, earrings or change. Slabs of Statuario marble from the hills of Tuscany were chosen specifically for its striking grey veins and white background making each Vesta tray unique, this timeless marble named Luna by the Romans used by them in both sculpture and building is still favoured by architects to this day. Handcrafted by skilled artisans, the Vesta although the smallest in size of our trays, actually proved to be the most time consuming to produce because of it’s carved sides which need precision and attention to detail to perfect. It is then polished to achieve a smooth and sleek finish that enhances the natural beauty of the marble.

The Vesta is named after the goddess of the hearth and its fire, a nod to the use use of the tray for spent matches and being an essential addition to your home. Also a reference to the small containers that in the early 1830’s in the UK were made to house matches, these became known as a vesta case, or simply a vesta.

Hand-sculpted by artisans, unique pattern and veining variations should be expected as this is a handmade product crafted from natural stone. Colour and sizes may vary.
